I designed a hardware collection for the Swedish company Superfront, known for transforming standard IKEA kitchens through colour and textures.
The Nacre collection consists of a knob, a handle and a sideboard leg. Each piece is sculpted in clay, then cast in solid brass with a bronze-toned patina. The surface is left unlacquered, allowing it to evolve naturally over time.
We often say that hardware is the jewellery of the home. This time, I wanted to take that idea quite literally and create something that really feels like a piece of jewellery.
I kept thinking about baroque pearls, irregular and each one completely unique. That’s where the form came from: pearls, beaded together.
What I love most though, is that it’s not just sculptural. Your fingers naturally find their way between the pearls, making it surprisingly comfortable to use.
