Brass vs. Bronze

Choosing hardware online can be tricky, especially when it comes to color. You often ask about the difference between brass and bronze, so I hope this post helps a little.

Brass: Imagine a warm, yellowish-gold hue. Over time, it naturally develops a deeper golden patina.
Bronze: This one’s a bit more complex. It comes in various shades depending on the patina, but typically I send it in a mid-brown tone. Like brass, it can darken slightly with age.

Unlike mass-produced, painted hardware, these pieces aren’t uniformly colored – each one develops its own unique character. Sometimes, even pieces made together have slight variations.
That’s the magic of handcrafted metals, these subtle differences give character to each piece.
